Flowers bring beauty and peace to all who enjoy them. There are blossoms for every occasion. Roses are for love, Tulips and the Easter Lilly remind us of springtime, and Poinsettias are for the winter holidays. The usher in seasons and holidays with their splashes of color as a centerpiece or on a table in the front hall. They brighten a room and your day with their sweet aroma and beautiful designs.
Arranging your own blooms can be a rewarding experience. All you really need are a few inexpensive tools and a desire to learn. Normally you think of the green foam and flower tape as regular tools of the trade. These items work well to hold up your arrangements.
Those items are good, but say someone just brought you some lovely blossoms and you need to make an arrangement. You can find tools right around your home that will also work. Plastic egg cartons and styrofoam cups work very good at holding up your blooms. Turn them upside down and poke a few holes in them where you want the flowers to go. Just about any tape you can find around your home will work except for cellophane tape. Cellophane tape just doesn’t hold up in lots of moisture. Try masking tape or electrical tape or just some string and wire.
A good idea when making arrangements is to use tin foil wrapped around the flower foam. This holds the water in with the blooms and allows you the freedom to choose unusual or unconventional containers. A good example might be a wicker basket. Use your imagination with this trick.
When arranging blooms never forget the beauty of one single flower. One single rose in a vase can say so much. Add a sprinkle of babies breath and you have a lovely delicate arrangement. You don’t have to overdo it when arranging these beautiful blooms. Let them speak for themselves. Blossoms are naturally beautiful to look at. Depending on the look you are trying to create, you may wish to have more or less blooms.
When choosing your blooms keep colors in mind. It is important for the colors of the blossoms to compliment each other. If you are not familiar with complimenting colors you can easily look them up on the Internet. Also consider which colors compliment the colors in the room that they will be in. Always use a little green, add some green leaves or sprigs. Green naturally compliments all blossoms just like in a beautiful garden.
When you are cutting your blooms for the arrangement remember to cut some of the stems longer and some shorter. This way you can have some of your blooms taller in the back or middle of your arrangement. The smaller stems can go in front and around the edges. This makes your arrangement more shapely and interesting.
Arranging flowers should be a joyous experience. Try not to get frustrated with them and be too artistic. Just let them be the beautiful blooms they were created to be. With time and a little practice you will be creating gorgeous arrangements for your loved ones and friends.
