If there is a special child in your life you have undoubtedly been shocked at the price of popular toys when you are out shopping for the perfect gift. You don’t always have to pay full price for toys. Some toys are classics but many of them are fads. They are hot one year and then forgotten by next year. Once interest begins to fade on a line of toys, they find their way to the clearance bin where you can save a bundle of money.
You don’t have to wait for a toy to go out of style to save a lot of money on it though. Some toys are thrown in the clearance bin when the season changes or when a hot new toy comes along and needs the shelf space. In these instances, you may be able to pick up popular toys while they are still in demand.
Toys can be placed in clearance when they are returned by someone. If the box has been wrinkled or ripped and does not look attractive but the enclosed toy still looks brand new. To be able to encourage someone to buy a toy in the banged-up box, a store places it on sale so it will sell.
There is normally a clearance area in most stores for the items on sale for whatever reason. While the newer toys arrive, the older ones are moved to the area for clearance making room for the newer ones. During the year you will find there are certain occasions where you can find the toys on clearance too.
Right before the big Christmas rush, stores want to clear the old toys out of the way to make room for the new bright and shiny ones. Sometimes the toys inside are exactly the same, the packaging is just updated to attract new buyers during the holidays. You can expect these clearance sales to take place around the late fall. This is a great time to shop as you can really save money plus you will get your Christmas shopping done early. Some stores will even let you put your selections in layaway and pay them off in the weeks leading up to Christmas.
One time of the year that is easy to find toys on clearance is just before the store’s inventory is going to be taken. This happens normally in January or February each year. You can find toys on clearance due to the store getting rid of seasonal products, winter merchandise and the toys that are being bought. You could even find some of the toys your children wished for at Christmas but did not receive.
Don’t forget to look for toy clearance sales online as well as at your local toy store. Online retailers need to manage inventory just like physical stores and usually have a few items on clearance at any given time.
Bringing up children today takes a great deal of money, it is nice to know where you can save some cash from time to time. But you don’t need to deny your children of the toys that they want because they’re outside your budget. You only need to shop smart and watch for the sales for clearance items. Your children will feel joy and there is no need to tell them you got the toys at bargain prices.
