If you are looking for apartments for rent in NH then you will most likely want to look in one of the major cities such as: Manchester, Nashua, Concord, Portsmouth, & Rochester. The buildings in these cities are usually older and one of a kind because they were converted from single family homes. There are also rental complexes available if you are looking for amenities like pools, gyms, parking garages and meeting rooms. There us usually enough to choose from

Another type of building are what is referred to as multi-family buildings and were constructed solely for the purpose of rental housing. They usually are 3 and 4 unit buildings and sometimes get as large as 12 units.

If you are looking for less of a “tenant/rental” environment then you’ll most likely want to find a single family home or detached condo to rent. Don’t worry, as there is usually ample homes available to choose from. Many times they are provided by owners who have relocated and cannot sell the home or by investors that may be interested in offering a rent-to-own option. Either way there should be many nice homes available without the commitment to purchase.

I have been both a landlord and renter so I have a lot of experience and advice for people who are considering any NH rentals. For starters you need the amount you would like to pay in rent. Keep in mind that many places will include heat, hot water, electricity, and other utilities in the rent. Then you should narrow your search by further by figuring out the neighborhood you want to live in. It is also recommended that you speak with the building owner or manager to find out how any issues or maintenance is taken care of. It would also be a good idea to talk with other tenants of the building to get their take on the landlord and living in the building. There may be things they tell you that the landlord won’t.

Again, there are some terrific apartments for rent in NH and you should have no problem finding the right one. It is highly recommended using a real estate agent to help you with finding a place to live. They are experts on the area, generally have a good understanding about housing laws that could help protect your rights and most of them will be paid by the owner so there is no direct cost to you. Good luck with your rental search.
