The sight of an auto slammed into a tree made me hit the brakes and interrupt a nighttime drive to the next town, where a friend was waiting to see me. The first thing I reached for were vehicle emergency kits.
The one in the glove compartment included a safety light and travel safety alarm while another in the trunk contained a 9 LED flashlight and a 4 in 1 emergency auto tool. I immediately turned my blinking emergency lights on.
I wondered why the lady had stayed inside the car. Nearing the vehicle, I caught sight of a gash on her forehead and that she was responsive although pinned to her seat by the driver’s wheel.
I pulled out the emergency auto tool from my vehicle emergency kits and used it, as intended, to break the window behind where the woman was. Through the window, I reached in to unlock the front door.
My idea was to force her away from the stubborn jam but required one more party to yank her out at the same time. Surveying the environs, I did not think any cars were soon passing us by.
I foraged for more aids in my vehicle emergency kits, all the while thinking of what else to do until I spotted my travel safety alarm. Counting on the ringing to be heard for as far as 9 feet, I turned it on.
A few minutes later, I spotted a patrol car heading our way. Apparently, the blinking lights had tipped two police officers off of a possible accident, and when they heard an alarm not so long after, they became doubly sure.
The officers escorted the woman to their patrol vehicle and assured me she would receive immediate medical attention. I drove on, proud of my heroic act and grateful for the vehicle emergency kits that made it possible..
